2. Purpose of this study
Through this study, we aim to understand how users participate in political discussions on Reddit. Insights from the interviews that we conduct will inform design decisions in building a browser extension or mobile app to improve the quality of political discussions on Reddit.
3. Who can participate in the study?
In order to participate in the study, you must be 18 years of age or older, reside in the US and participate in political discussions on Reddit.
4. What will happen to me in this study?
If you agree to take part in this study, you will be asked to participate in a one-hour interview using remote conferencing software such as Zoom. The interview will be about your experiences in political discussions on Reddit. You will also be asked for suggestions to improve the quality of discussions. On occasion, we may invite you to help evaluate design prototypes developed based on these interviews. The interview will last about an hour. You will be given a 20$ Amazon gift card for your participation in the study.
The University of Michigan Health Sciences and Behavioral Sciences Institutional Review Board has determined that this research is exempt from IRB oversight.
